Following are the top medical schools/colleges in Nepal:
B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS)
- The Institute is envisaged as one of the finest examples of Indo-Nepal Co-operation.
- This Institute, a center of excellence in patient care, teaching and research in the health sector is following an integrated model for holistic paradigm. All MD/MS programmes are recognized by Nepal Medical Council (NMC). Some of these PostGraduate MD/MS courses have also been recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI). The BDS programme is recognized by the Nepal Medical Council.
Institute of Medicine (IOM)
- It was founded in 1972 under Tribhuvan University (TU) with the mandate and responsibility of training all the categories of health manpower needed in the nation.
- IOM has established linkage programs with leading educational institutions and universities around the world. The MBBS degree awarded by the Institute, TU is recognized by: Nepal Medical Council; Indian Medical Council; Bangladesh Medical Council; Sri Lanka Medical Council; Pakistan Medical Council; General Medical Council (UK); World Health Organization.
Kathmandu Medical College (KMC)
- KMC is permanently affiliated to Kathmandu University and fully recognized by the Nepal Medical Council and the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
- The College has also been listed in the WHO's World Directory of Medical Schools - electronic format as from June 2002.
- It is also listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED).
College of Medical Sciences (COMS)
- The College is affiliated to the Kathmandu University and fully recognized by the Nepal Medical Council. The MBBS course was introduced in 1996.
- The college has been coordinating and collaborating with various national teaching institutions like the B.P.Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, B.P.Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Bharatpur Govt. hospital of Bharatpur.
Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS)
- KUSMS launched its own constituent MBBS program in August 2001.
- It has also been running different Certificate in health science programmes under Dhulikhel Medical Institute (DMI) since 1998.
Nepal Medical College (NMC)
